Performance features

The Ram 1500 is sporting a new grille, but the changes aren't just for aesthetics. The upper edge now provides better aerodynamics. The front spoiler also has unique technology for buyers who don't get a Ram 1500 with the air suspension. If you're driving under 35 miles per hour the spoiler stays as is, but if you go faster it drops a few inches. What that does is make the airflow smooth and improves the fuel economy.

Technology you cannot see is nice, but for those who also want visual updates, the RAM 1500 also has sixteen new wheel designs to show off around Lakewood.

Shopping for a cab a bit easier, as there is only a Quad Cab and the larger Crew Cab to choose from; goodbye Regular Cab. Compared to last year, the Crew Cab is 3.9 inches longer (bumper to bumper) and the wheelbase has been extended 4.1 inches. That pays off for passengers out back who'll now have nearly five extra inches of legroom!

3.6L Pentastar® V6

  • 305 horsepower
  • 269 lb-ft of torque

5.7L HEMI® V8

  • 395 horsepower
  • 410 lb-ft of torque
The 3.6L option tows up to 7,750 pounds and the 5.7L now gets up to 12,750 pounds, which has earned it a Best-in-Class V8 towing status for light-duty pickups.  We love that both engines have more towing and hauling capability than ever before. There's also eTorque mild hybrid assist technology on the 3.6L that gives it more grunt. Did we mention the 2019 RAM 1500 is 225 pounds lighter than its predecessor? Less weight and more power is always something to get excited about.

Amenities for Convenience and Enjoyment

The available RamBox® is always an excellent feature to get on your RAM 1500. It's the perfect spot to place smaller items, like power tools, and it also received some much-appreciated updates for 2019. Just like in previous years, the management system has LED lights and you can drain the storage bins - who's ready to tailgate? New features include a 115-volt outlet and with the key fob there's remote access.

The RAM 1500 has made a name for itself by being one of the flashiest pickups on the market, but RAM designer still upped the interior ante with the 4th generation Uconnect system that's cleaner, sleeker, and easier to use. The available 8.4-inch touchscreen is large enough for most drivers, but you can take it even further with the Uconnect 12.0-inches that has navigation. With this massive screen, you can even split the display to manage two things at once. If your budget is big and you want a truly luxurious experience, we highly suggest going all-out on this conversation starter.

The truck segment has admittedly been a little behind on advanced safety technologies that are plentiful on sedans, crossovers, and SUVS. Thankfully, the RAM 1500 is stepping up to the plate and there's many more standard and available features.

New safety offerings include:

  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path and Trailer detection
  • 360-degree Surround View Camera
  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go
  • Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist
  • Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist
The 2019 RAM 1500 is set to have over 100 available passive and active safety features. If safety really matters to you, make sure your salesperson knows so they can point you towards the trims with the strongest standard selection or available options.

The following trims will be available for the 2019 year: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Limited. During past years the Big Horn and Express trims have been top-sellers at our dealership, and we expect the Big Horn to remain popular. You'll notice the Express is no longer available as a standalone trim. The Express was mostly an appearance upgrade, so you can get the "Chrome Appearance Package" on the Tradesman model for 2019, essentially making it an Express.

The Tradesman has a standard backup camera, Bluetooth, voice command, and the older Uconnect 3 touchscreen that's 5-inches. The Big Horn takes it up a notch with a comfortable leather-wrapped steering wheel, chrome accents on the door, grille, and bumpers, fog lamps for poor visibility, and a Class-Exclusive in-floor storage. You can also get this trim with the 5.7L HEMI® V8.

If you're looking for the upgraded Uconnect 4 system, you'll need to get the Laramie trim. This option is a perfect entry for drivers looking for luxury, as you'll get heated and ventilated seats that can be power-adjusted 12-ways. There's also a premium Alpine system with 9-speakers. The top-rated Limited brings has all dthe bells and whistles. This trim offers the standard 12-inch Uconnect 4, advanced safety technologies, Class-Exclusive Four Corner Air Suspension, power running boards, and a nifty wireless charging pad.

Depending on the trim you choose, you can get the following packages:

  • Sport Appearance
  • Chrome Appearance
  • Black Appearance
  • Max Tow
  • Mopar Off-Road
  • Mopar City
