2014 Doge Dart Review

2014 Dodge Dart - Originally introduced as down-sized full-size coupes and sedans in 1960, the Dart enjoyed a history of strong sales and different configurations until being superseded in the marketplace by other Dodge models. After a 35-year absence, the Dart nameplate was reintroduced in 2013 as a compact 4-door sedan but outfitted with the performance enhancements Dodge has become known for.

Performance

 

Powerful but still fuel efficient, the Dart has 3 different engines available, with the base model being treated to the 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, 16-valve engine that generates 160 horsepower and is good for an EPA-estimated 36 miles per gallon highway. Upgrades include Dodge Multiair power plants, with a choice of a 1.4-liter or 2.4-liter, the latter of which is good for 184 horsepower. Three different transmissions send power to the driver, with a choice of a six-speed manual, six-speed PowerTech automatic, or, for the ultimate in control, a six-speed dual dry clutch with Autostick, a manually controlled automatic transmission.

Exterior

The 2014 Dodge Dart is available in five different trims, with the base model called an SE, and the top end labeled Limited. Designed for performance, yet with style suitable for the showroom, the Dart took its world class appearance from Italian designer Alfa Romeo.  A host of metallic finishes enables you to brand the car as your own, and 152 LEDs light up the racetrack tail lamp array. Projector head and fog lamps light your way in all kinds of weather, and eight different wheel treatments allow owners freedom of style. Bring the outdoors in with the available power sunroof, standard on the Limited and optional on other trims.

The cockpit can only be described as "delicious," with a beautiful yet useful design, layout, and mood lighting.  The car can seat 5, but the available 60/40 folding back seat gives you room for cargo when it's a priority.

The most technologically advanced car in its class, the 2014 Dodge Dart has steering wheel mounted controls, an available 8.4-inch touchscreen with UConnect, AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth radio with one year of complimentary SiriusXM audio. Add Garmin navigation and SiriusXM Travel Link, and you'll have access to real-time traffic, weather, and information including sports scores. Amp up your audio with the available Alpine system featuring nine speakers, a subwoofer, and 500 watts of music goodness.  

Safety
