2014 Dodge Journey Review - A mid-size crossover SUV, the Journey came onto the market as a 2009 offering and has received several updates since then.  Substantial exterior, interior, and power upgrades arrived in 2011, and in 2012 the Journey became the smallest SUV in the Dodge line up.

The front-wheel drive, seven-seater comes standard with a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 4-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive, a more powerful V6, and an automatic transmission are available on higher trims. The V6 mileage ratings from the EPA are good for the class, with an estimate of 17 city/25 highway miles per gallon and regular drivers reporting better mileage than the EPA figures.
2014 Dodge Journey Review - Exterior
Available in six different trims, Journey models include the SE, Crossroad, AVP, SXT, SXT Plus, and the Limited at the top of the line.  The styling on the Journey is different enough to avoid looking like every other compact SUV. Other brands currently tend to have appearances that range from one end of the spectrum to the other, either boxy or curvy. But the Journey manages to fit somewhere in between and encompass the best of both worlds.

The 2014 Dodge Journey may be a better choice than others when a driver's priority is family transport.  The optional third row seating adds room for two more children with built in booster seats available for the second row.  Storage bins in the floor between the driver and passenger rows are useful, as is the floor storage compartment up front  - a good place for hiding away valuables that you have to leave in the car. With the seats folded down, the Journey offers nearly 70 cubic feet of storage space, perfect for toting gear or tools.
A simple dash layout with large dials, knobs, and easily accessible available touchscreen makes the operator's life simple.Â
With available technology including Garmin Navigation and Dodge UConnect, even your tech savvy kids will be in awe. Add SiriusXM Travel Link, and you'll have real-time traffic, weather, information, and sports scores via the largest touchscreen in the class. Of course, you can play DVD movies when the SUV is stationary.  With UConnect and Bluetooth, you're completely hands-free and able to make calls, get directions, and give commands to the audio system.
Concert hall sound is the norm with the available Alpine audio system, featuring 6 speakers, a sub woofer, and a 358-watt amplifier.
