At Freehold Dodge, we've heard a lot of our Monroe Township and Farmingdale customers talking about how similar they thought the 2015 Dodge Durango and the Nissan Pathfinder were.

Though it's true that both of these SUVs feature a standard V6 engine and have an available backseat entertainment system, they're hardly the same.

In this 2015 Dodge Durango vs. Nissan Pathfinder vehicle comparison, we're going to look at these features and more in detail so you can discover what exactly sets these two vehicles apart.

Design

The Dodge Durango provides a comfortable ride with plenty of room for up to seven passengers. You can choose between standard plush cloth and available leather-trimmed seats. If you're interested in a sportier look, then you may want to opt for the available Nappa axis II perforated leather trim in black, which features red accent stitching.

The seats can be equipped with heating and ventilating technology for a more comfortable ride any time of year, and the Durango's heated steering wheel will definitely come in handy on those cold winter mornings.

With more than 50 different seating configurations and up to 84.5 cubic feet of cargo space, the Durango provides an ample amount of passenger and cargo options. Plus, thanks to the available second-row fold-and-tumble captain's chairs, getting into the third row is easy.

Similar to the Dodge Durango, the 2015 Nissan Pathfinder features available leather-appointed seats for up to seven passengers, a heated steering wheel, and heated/cooled on seats certain trims.

The Pathfinder has slightly less maximum cargo space with 79.8 cubic feet, and although the reclining third-row seats are a unique touch, they don't seem practical when you have a cargo area filled with groceries or luggage.

To help make getting into the third row a little easier, the Pathfinder's second row can move forward by 5.5 inches.

Performance

Drivers of the Dodge Durango will find two powerful engine options\ paired with a fuel-efficient eight-speed automatic transmission. To start, the standard Pentastar V6 engine can generate 290 horsepower and tow up to 6,200 lbs. The available 5.7-liter HEMI V8, on the other hand, achieves 360 horsepower and can tow up to 7,400 lbs.

You won't find that much power in the Nissan Pathfinder's 3.5-liter V6 engine, though, as it maxes out at 260 horsepower and 5,000 lbs of towing.

You also won't find a unibody suspension system made from ultra-high-strength steel, which gives the Durango its improved driving dynamics and handling.

Technology

For front-row passengers, the 2015 Dodge Durango features an available Uconnect System with Uconnect Access. This gives you the ability to control an on-demand WiFi hotspot, SiriusXM Traffic information, live weather updates, the Pandora music app, and more. Backseat passengers can enjoy movies or video games on one of the two 9-inch fold-up screens.

The 2015 Nissan Pathfinder also has dual DVD monitors in the second row, although they can't support Blu-ray and they feature a 7-inch display instead of nine. Front-row passengers in the Pathfinder can access navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and Bluetooth technology from the infotainment system.

Conclusion

In the end, the 2015 Dodge Durango is an extremely versatile SUV. It offers more cargo space, more horsepower, more towing capabilities, and larger entertainment displays than the Nissan Pathfinder.
